Akron Book Launch Event – In The Light

Singing with Elliott— Magic Moment from the Book Launch

This was a special moment from our hometown Akron book launch.

Our daughter Elliott (singer for Detention) got up to sing harmonies on the song that launched my epic book quest— “In The Light.”
Many songs are battles, but this was one of those that wrote itself.

In this video you can see our amazing emcee Ace Epps pass the mic to Elliott, who did such a beautiful job— before passing the mic to my brother and warrior for peace, Zach Freidhof

I had no idea anyone recorded this until my sister in law Meghan Olstead shot me a download link. So grateful.

THE TAKEAWAY: Glowing in the Dark looks different for all of us, and, it is our joyous responsibility to determine what that looks like and get on with the work of activating it.

From the book (Permission to GLOW) pg. 159:

“No one knows what your full glow will look or sound like. We feel its warmth when it lights up the space. Full self-expression is as unique as trillions of falling snowflakes. As nuanced as nearly eight billion divine fingerprints.

These lyrics may provide a summary of our journey together thus far. They also set the stage for the 4th Permission. If you’d like to hear the full track, please visit this epic life .com / music “

IN THE LIGHT:

When did we fall out of orbit?
Circling around the night
When our skin wears thin,
we forget where we’ve been

Come in little dark satellite

Rest, rest, rest
Feel all there is to feel
You will glow, glow again

as you heal

No matter how long you’ve been waiting
You’re never quite ready for Grace
She cuts cloudy skies, pours in the skylights
Kneels down to kiss your face

Saying rest, rest, rest
And feel, all there is to feel
You will glow, glow again
as you heal

Now we’re running on stage
at the edge of the dream
Feeling unprepared,
but ready to scream
I will glow, you will glow, we all glow in the dark

I’ve watched you prepare for this all of your life
and you’re open to fail, but willing to fight
I will glow, you will glow, we’ll all glow in the light

Remind me there’s two kinds of fire
Remind me the danger is real
While one fire forges,
the other consumes
Leaving dust, of what could’ve been steel

We’ll rest, rest, rest
and feel while we can still feel
We’ll glow, glow again as we heal

Now we’re running on stage,
wide awake in the dream
Feeling unprepared, and ready to scream
I will glow, you will glow,
we all glow in the dark

We’ve been preparing all of our lives
We’re open to fail, but willing to fight
I will glow, you will glow,
we’ll all glow in the light

In the light.
