108 Reps of the Lakshmi Chant for Wealth + Prosperity

About Goddess Lakshmi
and this Chant

ABOUT THE MANTRA

This mantra is named after the Goddess Lakshmi, who is traditionally identified in Hindu mythology as the Goddess of Wealth, Prosperity, and Abundance. The Lakshmi Mantra is recited to empower your goal, and as a means to realize that goal. This Mantra is synonymously also called Money Mantra.

MEANING OF THE MANTRA

“Om Sri Mahalakshmi Yai Ya”

”Praise to the great Goddess Lakshmi of good Fortune.”

But this soothing mantra is not only a prayer to gain financial prosperity but also to give us the intelligence and wisdom to enlighten our minds with understanding. Lakshmi is the personification of all that brings good fortune, prosperity, and beauty.

ABOUT THE GODDESS

Lakshmi is depicted as a beautiful Goddess of golden complexion, with four hands, sitting or standing on a full-bloomed lotus and holding a lotus bud, which stands for beauty, purity, and fertility. Her four hands represent the four ends of human life: dharma or righteousness, “kama” or desires, “artha” or wealth, and “moksha” or liberation from the cycle of birth and death. She shows the “abhaya mudra” or the “gyan mudra” with her right hand and holds a potful of gold in her left arm and paddy sheaf in her left hand.

Cascades of gold coins are seen flowing from her hands, suggesting that those who worship her gain wealth. She always wears gold embroidered red clothes. Red symbolizes activity and the golden lining indicates prosperity.
